Volunteering Roles

Whether you are looking to enhance your CV, make new friends or just give something back, being part of this wonderful team of like minded people is a fantastic opportunity. You will engage with people who love Chorley and St Laurence’s Church.

Whether you have just a few hours to spare each week, or a few days, we have something that will suit you. Volunteering is for people of all ages, and each brings their own skills and expertise to a role, as well as their incredibly valuable time.  It’s important to stress that people can help the Friends of St Laurence’s in all kinds of different ways, with a varying degree of commitment. Even just a little time can make a huge difference.

You could bring;
  • your time and skills to a role, perhaps helping out at events
  • contributing to our website
  • helping our social media team or
  • you could lend a hand on a more ad-hoc basis.

Are you a champion at putting out chairs at an event?  Would you like to help  by welcoming visitors to St Laurence’s especially during the Mayflower celebration?  Volunteer guides who are passionate about the stories surrounding St Laurence’s, art and interiors and love making people feel at home would be welcome.  Are you a natural at sales or someone who loves meeting new people?  We would love someone to increase our membership. This boosts our funds so we can continue our work.

We can promise a very rewarding role within a much loved local charity which makes a real difference to the lives of the community.  Not only that, it’s also a very social activity which offers valuable work experience for those beginning a new education or career path.

St Laurence’s Church is situated in the centre of Chorley. It is believed that there has been a Church on that site since Anglo Saxon times. St Laurence’s is a unique link with the past providing a vital sense of continuity and local identity.
