Michael and Jenny Welsh have lived on Town Lane Whittle-le-Woods since 1980. Michael regularly attends the 8.00 service at St Laurence, Jenny worships at St James, Brindle. They have great affection for the town and church that have been part of their lives for almost 40 years and welcome the opportunity to do something that will be of benefit to both and bring them closer together.

Alistair and Jane have lived in and around Chorley Town for 40 years. Both now retired, Alistair is actively involved in local politics and Jane supports a community interest group of 1950s born women. They say, "Living in Park Road, with St Laurence's on our doorstep, we love to talk with anyone who will listen, about the local history which surrounds us. We hope to make a contribution which will ensure that St Laurence's Church continues to be a major focus for the Community of Chorley, and beyond."

Kathie & Roger came to live in Chorley in 1984, attending Parish Eucharist at St Laurence’s Church 2 days after arrival when Canon Jones was Rector, and have attended and been associated with the Church ever since. Kathie spent 18 years, first helping, then running Tots Praise. She is now one of the Church’s representatives on the Deanery Synod. Roger has been a Governor at St. Michael’s School for many years. We see St. Laurence’s Church as a vital part of the community in Chorley.

'James moved to Chorley in late 2016 on retirement and has been attending St Laurence since April 2017. He became Parish treasurer in August 2017.
He sees the Friends as a great way of sharing the history of the Church and its relationship with the town over many centuries. He hopes that the Church will, through this initiative, become a centre for community activity. |
